District Newsletter: November 2025

Assemblymember Rubio

Happy December to the Fighting 48th! I hope that the holiday season has been filled with joy, warmth, and some quality time with friends and family. It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 9th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our November 2025 Newsletter, and ensure our communities stay up-to-date with state related matters.

Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of turkeys!

This year marked my 9th annual “Operation Gobble Turkey Drive”, where incredible members of the community, and I were able to give away over 3,000 holiday meals to people in need. The outpouring of love, generosity of spirit and joy that I witnessed from our neighbors was so moving and inspiring. I want to thank all of those who showed up, bright and early, helped willingly and gave openly. Your time and your energy is invaluable in making the holiday season brighter for those around you. Take a look at our impact here.

Happy Holidays!

Azusa Old Schoolhouse Ribbon Cutting
azusaoldschoolhouse

I had the privilege of celebrating a slice of Azusa history, with the ribbon cutting at the Azusa “Old Schoolhouse”. In 2022, Senator Rubio, and I secured $3 million of state funds to preserve this critical piece of culture. The Old Schoolhouse is now located on Historic Row, its new, permanent location. A special thank you to the Mayor of Azusa, the city council members, and the city staff who worked to ensure this building’s preservation.

5th Anniversary of the SGV Housing Trust
SGVRHTSGVRHT

It was a delight to be a guest speaker at the San Gabriel Valley Regional Housing Trust. The SGVRHT has operated since 2020 as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) to fund and finance the planning, and construction of affordable and homeless housing. This JPA is able to provide the financing, construction and predevelopment of housing units that serve households that are at or below the 80% Area Median Income. SGVRHT in its 5 years has funded 927 units of affordable housing, and 130 units of interim shelter. I am proud to support this essential, and productive asset to our community.

YWCA Senior Nutrition Cohort Advocacy Day

The YWCA hosted a 10 session workshop series to seniors in the community, focusing on healthy eating, cooking demonstrations, and advocacy days packed with a wide variety of information on available resources. As a member of the Assembly Committee on Aging, and Long Term Care, it is important for me to uplift, educate, and support our senior community. Thank you to the YWCA for hosting such a beneficial, and fun event.

Covina Valley USD’s State of the School District

I had a great time at Covina Valley USD’s State of the School District. As a teacher for more than 16 years myself, I thank the CVUSD Board of Education, faculty, and educators for putting our students on a pathway to success. Continuously, our educators and administration continue to go above and beyond to support, and enrich our students and community.

Veteran’s Day Celebrations

I had the privilege of attending many Veteran’s Day Celebrations in the district. These events were beautifully organized and did a fantastic job of paying tribute, and celebrating our nation’s heroes, including those from our very own community. I extend gratitude to all of our cities for making Veteran’s Day so memorable. Pictured below are a few snapshots from Duarte, West Covina and Baldwin Park’s events.

Governors Appointment Workshop
govappointments25group

Our annual Government Appointments Workshop, in partnership with California Women Lead was a huge success. Here, we discussed board, and commission seats at the local, and state level, as well as where to find information for those interested in an appointee position. We had several incredible speakers who provided great advice for our attendees. A special thank you to Sabrina Ashjan, Laura Franklin and Rosie Richardson for sharing their time, and their invaluable insights.
