Happy January to the Fighting 48th! I hope that the New Year and holiday season have treated you well. It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 10th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our December 2025 Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up to date with state related matters.

It was a delightful time joining the City of Baldwin Park for their annual Holiday Parade and Winterfest. My spirit was warmed seeing families, friends and the community come together to celebrate the holiday season. A special thank you to the city staff, the city council and mayor for their hard work, dedication and efforts to make this event so safe, fun and well run.

Covina dazzled during the Covina Christmas Parade, where I had a spectacular time participating in the holiday festivities alongside the Covina City Council, the Mayor of Covina, his wife, and so many of our local families. Thank you to all the incredible performers across the San Gabriel Valley who brought joy to our community through their creativity and talent; and a special thank you to those who made this celebration one to remember.

I celebrated with the City of Azusa on their library groundbreaking! I am grateful to have been involved in advocating $6.5 million in California State Library funding for renovations. This ceremony marks the beginning of construction on Azusa’s “little library that could,” designed to serve and uplift generations to come! I am so excited to see Azusa library’s development.

Esperanza Villa Christmas Luncheon

I had the honor of attending the 5th annual Christmas luncheon with the residents of Esperanza Villa. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with our unhoused community, sharing food, gifts, and hope during this holiday season. Thank you to Mayor Damian and everyone who brought compassion and good spirits to this luncheon. I look forward to continuing this tradition of compassion and inspiration with our most vulnerable community.
Roland Center of La Puente

I had the opportunity to visit the Roland Center in La Puente. It was amazing to see the improvements made to the facility and to learn more about their work to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking and interacting with the residents at this facility. I appreciate the valuable information shared by Mr. Buckley and Mr. Cook and am grateful to see facilities such as Roland Center taking root in our communities.
Legislative Updates
January 5, 2026, was the beginning of the legislative year, where all members from the Senate and Assembly returned from their districts and to the Capitol. This marks my tenth year in the legislature, serving as your Assemblywoman. The work I do here in the legislature and in our community is so important to me, it is the honor of a lifetime to be able to serve you, to make an impact on our district and impart change in the laws in California. This past year has been full of challenges, but it has shown clearly how capable people are of rising to the occasion, coming together and leading with love. I am so impressed by the capabilities and compassion I have seen in the community.
The legislative cycle will begin to ramp up over the next few days and into the month. All committees will resume, staff and I will review bill proposals and continue to develop our legislative package. Stay tuned!
