Happy May to you! I represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 10th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. Young Legislators Talk Trash!

Our young legislators had their fourth hands-on learning experience, in partnership with Athens Services. Our students had the opportunity to learn about Athen’s involvement in legislation, learned about the process of waste management, and learned what it takes to build a state-of-the-art facility in California.
Thank you to Athens Services for such a robust learning experience for our YLP students. Good information never goes to waste. 😉
Santa Anita Family YMCA

I had an amazing time visiting the Santa Anita YMCA Family! The Y’s work in serving the community in the 48th Assembly District and Los Angeles County is incredible; their impact ranges from childcare services, group fitness classes, and a variety of extracurriculars that make our community members stronger and more well-rounded. I look forward to our continued partnership and working together in meaningful ways!
VFW Post District Office Visit

A special thank you to the groups who took the time to meet with me in my district office this month. I had the pleasure of connecting with Mark Tavera from VFW Post 10218, who presented me with a beautiful certificate recognizing my work on veteran issues. I also met with LA Voice, where we had a fruitful conversation about legislation and efforts to support our district.

Charter Oak Foundation Hall of Fame Celebration

It was an absolute pleasure to join the Charter Oak Foundation in celebrating the recognition and induction of Heidi (whose husband accepted on her behalf) Beth, and Rick into the Hall of Fame. It was a lovely evening filled with love and appreciation for these three individuals who have dedicated their lives to making a positive impact on our students’ education in the community.
Azusa City Council Meeting; Recognizes Regina Sells-Arnold

My team had the honor of recognizing Regina Sells-Arnold during the City of Azusa council meeting. Regina was recognized as the 2026 Woman of the Year in the 48th Assembly District. Thank you to the city council for highlighting our rising star Regina Sells-Arnold!

Congratulations on the Swearing in of Mayor Hector Delgado (pictured left)! I am greatly looking forward to working together and continuing to uplift our residents in the City of Covina. And a special thank you to our outgoing Mayor, Victor Linares (pictured right)! Victor, your leadership this past year, has been outstanding. I appreciate you for always showing up and showing out for your community.

California Legislative Women’s Caucus Policy Roundtable

The California Legislative Women’s Caucus met with Governor Newsom this month to discuss legislative priorities and their associated budget needs. This meeting was an excellent opportunity for the women of the Legislature to intentionally uplift the needs of women and children in California. Thank you to Governor Newsom for your time and attention to these needs.
Legislative Updates
April is arguably one of the busiest months in the legislative season, all bills with a price tag have been heard by committees, have been referred to appropriations, or are held in suspense, where they will be assigned a pass or fail and then heard on the assembly floor. This month, we will be focused on getting all our remaining bills to be heard on the assembly floor for their third reading. We will begin to see more senate bills being presented in committees during this time as well.

Changes to Medi-Cal are coming. Here are some helpful tips to ensure continuity of coverage:
- Keep your contact information current so you receive all notices and renewal forms.
- Check your mail regularly and respond immediately to any letters.
- Know your renewal date and complete renewals on time, even without reminders.
- Attend your medical appointments to maintain continuity of care.
- Visit DHCS Medi-Cal Changes and Medi-CalManagedCare.org for additional resources.
Drop: A Free and Fast Way for Californians to Protect Their Privacy

Californians now have a simple, free way to protect their personal information with the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP), a new tool from CalPrivacy. Instead of tracking down hundreds of data brokers that collect and sell your data, you can visit one state website and send a single request directing all registered data brokers to delete your information and stop selling it.
Using DROP can help reduce spam and scams, limit tracking and unwanted ads, and shrink your digital footprint, all while keeping your information secure. Data brokers start processing requests August 1, 2026.
